※ Patent name: System and Method for Acquiring Defect Information of Processed Products Based on Air Cylinder Pneumatic Consumption Patterns
The Korea Invention Patent Exhibition is Korea's leading invention exhibition event, hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office and organized by the Korea Invention Promotion Association. It is held annually with the goal of discovering excellent patented technologies and products, exhibiting and promoting them, and facilitating their commercialization. This year's exhibition was held at COEX in Seoul from December 3 to 6, and CloudNetworks' Research Institute Director Cha Ji-hyun attended the award ceremony held on the opening day to receive the award.

The CloudNetworks patent that received the Commissioner's Award this time is a technology that determines whether a processed product is defective by analyzing changes in air cylinder pneumatic pressure. It distinguishes defect types—such as cracks and missing lamination in products—by analyzing the pneumatic consumption pattern before and after the piston rod of the air cylinder reaches its target stroke distance. Its core competitive advantage lies in the fact that it can determine defects without separate equipment such as vision sensors or load cells, reducing installation costs and maintenance burden. Previously, it was difficult to check assembly conditions or surface defects without imaging or pressure sensing devices, but this technology expands the air cylinder into a virtual sensor, making it possible to build a precise quality control system using only existing equipment.
In particular, based on target quantity, production quantity, and yield, it monitors production status and defect rates in real time, and visualizes Pareto analysis by defect type, yield by process, and process capability indices (Cp, Cpk), allowing quality improvement directions to be identified at a glance.
CloudNetworks has continuously pursued technology development in the smart factory field centered on its Research Institute, and holds numerous patents, including 'an intelligent interlock system based on imaging information for legacy manufacturing processes and equipment' and 'energy-saving technology through virtual sensing of actuators.'
CloudNetworks CEO Jeong Heung-gyun explained, "This patent is the result of our Research Institute's continuous technology development efforts," adding, "Since it allows companies to secure quality competitiveness without the heavy cost burden of installing sensors, it will help improve the production efficiency and quality competitiveness of small and medium-sized manufacturers."
During the exhibition, CloudNetworks introduced HandViewer, a smart factory solution applying this patented technology, drawing significant interest.
Meanwhile, on the 26th of last month, CloudNetworks received a commendation from the Director of the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Group for its contributions to advanced manufacturing and flexible production, at the performance sharing event for the 'Smart Manufacturing Innovation Technology Development Project' hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Ministry of Science and ICT.
