CloudNetworks announced that it has signed a partnership with Kong, a global API and AI connectivity company, and will begin supplying Kong AI Gateway in Korea.
Kong AI Gateway is an AI gateway that integrates and manages an enterprise's AI traffic through a single gateway. This partnership was pursued to support domestic enterprises in building their AI operating systems, amid growing demand for control and governance of AI calls as the use of generative AI and LLMs spreads into actual business operations.
As enterprise AI adoption moves from the experimental stage into the service operation stage, how to control and observe AI calls is emerging as a new operational challenge. Since LLM calls are also made in API form, the need for a central gateway capable of authentication, security, and monitoring is growing.
Kong is a global company that develops API and AI connectivity technology, and has provided an API management platform based on the widely used open-source Kong Gateway. Recently, it has been expanding its API management scope to include LLM, MCP, and agent-to-agent (A2A) traffic, with Kong AI Gateway handling the AI traffic management portion of this.
Kong AI Gateway is designed by extending the existing API gateway concept to centrally control, secure, and observe LLM and generative AI API calls. It runs on the same runtime as Kong Gateway and manages calls to multiple LLM providers through a single standard interface.
Kong AI Gateway applies the same existing API security policies—such as authentication/authorization, rate limiting, and audit logs—to AI calls as well. AI-specific features such as PII removal, prompt control, semantic caching, and traffic observability are also provided at the gateway layer.
As enterprise AI adoption has recently spread, there is a growing need to design not only model performance but also control over call paths, cost management, and audit systems together. Along with supplying Kong AI Gateway in Korea, CloudNetworks provides architecture design, implementation, integration, and technical support tailored to customer environments.
