Through this partnership, the two companies plan to support domestic enterprises using generative AI and large language models (LLMs) in building operational management systems for security, control, and monitoring of AI calls.
As enterprise AI adoption recently expands beyond the technology validation and experimentation stage into actual business operations and services, managing not only model performance but also AI call paths, usage, costs, and security policies is emerging as a key operational challenge.
In particular, as LLM calls are made in API form, connections across multiple LLM providers, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), Model Context Protocol (MCP), and AI agents are becoming increasingly complex, driving growing demand for systems that can manage this centrally.
Kong is a company that provides an API management platform based on the open-source "Kong Gateway." It has recently been expanding its existing API management scope to cover LLM, MCP, and agent-to-agent (A2A) traffic.
Kong AI Gateway is a solution that extends the functionality of existing API gateways into the generative AI domain. It manages calls to multiple LLM providers through a single interface and provides the security and monitoring features required for AI API calls.
Policies used in existing API environments—such as authentication/authorization, rate limiting, and audit logging—can also be applied to AI calls. It also offers features such as personally identifiable information (PII) removal, prompt control, semantic caching, and traffic observability.
According to the company, this allows enterprises to apply common policies at the gateway layer, rather than building AI-related security and operational functions separately for each individual application.
Along with supplying Kong AI Gateway in Korea, CloudNetworks plans to provide architecture design and implementation tailored to each company's system environment, integration with existing systems, and technical support. Based on this, the company also intends to expand its enterprise AI governance business.
