Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager is an easy-to-deploy server virtualization management platform for configuring, monitoring, and managing Oracle Linux Kernel-based Virtual Machine (KVM) environments. Oracle Linux KVM and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager provide a modern, open-source, high-performance, license-cost-free alternative to proprietary server virtualization solutions.
An Oracle Linux Premier Support subscription includes both Oracle support resources and lifetime software support for KVM and Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, all in a single cost-effective support offering. For customers with an Oracle Cloud Infrastructure subscription, Oracle Linux Premier Support is included at no additional cost.
☑️ Oracle Linux KVM
Oracle Linux KVM delivers top performance and security for multi-cloud deployments. Users can take previously deployed Oracle Linux systems and turn their operating environments into KVM hosts, or set up a KVM configuration from a base Oracle Linux installation. Oracle Linux KVM supports Intel VT-x and VT-d hardware extensions, along with Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) for AMD-V-enabled processors. In addition, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure uses Oracle Linux KVM natively, making it easy to move workloads to Oracle Cloud.
Oracle Linux KVM can be used as a hard partitioning technology for Oracle software licensing. This technology allows virtual machines to be pinned to specific physical cores on a server. Once pinned, Oracle Database or applications only need to be licensed for the number of pinned physical cores. This can lower licensing costs.
☑️ Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager
Data center administrators can use Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, built on the open-source oVirt project, to manage and support multiple hosts running Oracle Linux KVM. At the heart of this management solution is ovirt-engine, which is used to discover KVM hosts and configure storage and networking for the virtualized data center.
Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager provides a modern web-based UI and REST API for managing Oracle Linux KVM infrastructure. Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager has a dashboard view that displays information about the deployment (number of VMs, number of hosts, clusters, storage), including the current status and key performance metrics of each entity. The REST API allows users to integrate with other management systems to provide backup and restore, monitoring, and configuration management services. The REST API can also be used to automate repetitive tasks with Oracle Linux Automation Manager through Ansible playbooks, build infrastructure as code through Terraform, or automate with manual scripts.

Software Features
Reliability and High Availability
The self-hosted engine provides high-availability management of the virtualized infrastructure.
Management Options and Ease-of-Use Features
Multiple management interfaces, automation options, and logical workflows make it easy to deploy applications to end users.
Easy Migration
Move existing virtual machines to Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager individually or in bulk using automated solutions.
Customers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS Linux KVM hosts can also migrate to Oracle Linux KVM and manage them with Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager.
Partner Ecosystem
The Oracle Linux and Virtualization ISV Catalog provides information on third-party software that ISVs have certified to run on Oracle Virtualization. The Hardware Compatibility Program ensures that server hardware solutions have been validated with Oracle Linux KVM.
Flexible Support Options and Value
Oracle Linux KVM and Virtualization Manager are free to download, use, and distribute. Updates and errata are provided free of charge, with the exception of some updates and errata, such as those released with Ksplice and Extended Support, which may require Oracle Linux Premier or Extended Support.
With an Oracle Linux Premier Support subscription, there is no need to worry about whether systems run as physical or virtual instances. It is all included in a single subscription price. Users can run Oracle Linux KVM on the host and run as many Oracle Linux guest instances as they want at no additional cost. And if workloads need to move between deployment models (for example, from on-premises Oracle Linux KVM to Oracle Linux KVM in the cloud), the transition is nearly seamless.
In addition to documentation, Oracle provides free comprehensive resources such as learning paths, tutorials, hands-on labs, and videos to help customers become proficient in deploying, configuring, monitoring, and managing Oracle Linux KVM environments with enterprise-grade performance.
